When Iron Maiden announced their final dates of their Somewhere Back In Time World Tour, back in November of 2008, it was announced that the final leg would start in Dubai and end in America. Their concert at the Media City Amphitheater in Dubai, where this album is recorded, took place on February the 13th , 2009 and it would be their second only gig in that country, their first concert in Dubai took place in 2007 at the Dubai Desert Rock Festival, during their A Matter Of Life And Death Tour. However for this tour the band were out performing a set list full of just 80s anthems. Dickinson and his band of merry men had torn through the iconic opener Aces High, complete with spectacular pyrotechnics and flames, they electrified the crowd with one hit after another The Trooper, Run To The Hills, Iron Maiden, Fear Of The Dark, Two Minutes To Midnight, Hallowed Be Thy Name, Powerslave, The Number Of The Beast and so on. This two hours show really made sure that the fans got what they came for: Most of these tracks have been a staple of heavy music for 25 years and above this we had Dickinson’s outspoken stage antics, and… a cyborg Eddie. After the opening track came Wratchild and 2 Minutes to Midnight and you cant be anything less than amazed by the fact that in 2009, Iron Maiden can play a song they wrote in 1983 in front of 15,000 people like it was the first time they’d ever played it. The guitar trio of Dave Murray, Adrian Smith and Janick Gers was as locked in as a fighter pilot zeroing in on its target. Nicko McBrain’s drumming didn’t miss a beat. The band decided to end the night with The Evil That Men do and Sanctuary and they were firing on all cylinders during every single note.
