The material on this disc is from the Reading Festival in England on the 28th of August 1982. Iron Maiden ended their first major headlining tour in England with a show in Reading in 1980. It was then the biggest crowd the band had ever performed in front of. Now they found themselves back on the same stage two years later and the band were now a force to be reckon with by the presence of Bruce Dickinson , the erstwhile Samson lead vocalist , who had taken over the vocal spot from Paul DiAnno. This was the twenty second festival with a line-up that consisted of hard rock guitar stalwarts Gary Moore, Randy California, Southern rockers Blackfoot and erstwhile pub rockers Dave Edmunds and Wilko Johnson together with Budgie, Stampede, Tank, Praying Mantis, Baron Rojo, Chinatwon, Rock Goddess, Tygers Of Pan Tang, MSG, Twisted Sister and more. Manowar were supposed to play on friday the 27th which would then ahve been their first European performance. However the American gladiators cancelled their show and was replaced by Diamond Head. Iron Maiden had their prestigious offer to headline the second day of the festival. Iron Maiden delivered an exciting hard rock show even though there were still Reading regulars that didnt see them as innovators within the genre. The concert ends when Blackfoot joins Maiden on stage and they performs a cover version of the ZZ Top classic Tush together. The Reading 1982 festival was another nice experience but the formula was about to change, as 1983 would be the last Reading for several years, at long last, the never ending story was about to come to a ( temporary ) stop.
