On a scale of 1 to 10, Iron Maiden’s heavy metal purity sits somewhere around 100. Their stomping rhythms and lightning-fast fretwork propel Bruce Dickinson’s operatic pipes, with a heroic level of power. This album was recorded live at Maison Des Sports, Clermont-Ferrand, France on November 19, 1983 during their World Piece Tour. The tour was in support of the band’s fourth album Piece Of Mind and ran from 2 May 1983 to 18 December 1983. If there is one thing that gets the metal fires burning in me, it is certainly Iron Maiden live shows from World Piece Tour 1983. They were out performing tracks from an album that had it all, iconic songs, incredible musicianship, timeless lyrics and another beautiful cover artwork. Even Steve Harris call this one of his favorite abum. All band members were on full steam and still had plenty of more energy to burn. Piece Of Mind was just special, Harris told journalist Mick Wall in band’s official biography Run To The Hills. We felt like we were on a high, and you can hear that mood on the album. Most of all though, it was just the songs. Between us, I thought we’d really come up with the goods this time. That energy was brought out on the road so just close your eyes while listening to this album and imagine the pulsating brain, the towering Eddie making his walkabout in his tattered straight jacket, and the three triangle moving lighting rig. There are also 9 bonus tracks from Paris on the 29th of October the year after.
