Description

Picture disc with cover sleeve Iron Maiden live is more than just a concert — it’s an event. In the days and hours prior to the show, the host city girds its loins in preparation for a pilgrimage of epic proportions. Because the fans aren’t just fans — they’re an army. Thousands of long-haired metalheads in Maiden shirts and leather jackets descended on downtown Vancouver, for the bands show General Motors Place on the 24th of June 2010. Their presence literally changed the face of the neighbourhood. Upping the irons became a standard street-side greeting. Local bars were packed to the gills with fans who cheered and sang along when the jukebox came up Maiden. It’s in these moments that you realize Iron Maiden is more than a band — it’s a movement. And if you felt the electricity, the intensity in the air that night, then you’re a part of the horde. The band has gone through three tours of historic material and not much can probably top their performance on the Somewhere Back In Time tour so this time it was a tour to promote the new album and to play more recent material. The band did perform Wrathchild, Fear Of The Dark and Iron Maiden in the standard set and the did three more classics as encore: The Number Of The Beast, Hallowed Be Thy Name and Running Free so im sure alot of fans went away a bit disappointed because there werent more of the classics. Sure i can understand if its the first time you see the band live but anyone thats been around for awhile must have grown tired of hearing Run To The Hills live. At least i have. Sure i would have love to hear material from my favourite period Piece Of Mind or Powerslave but as i said. This was a tour to promote the new album and in the end its a good thing that the band move forward and not travels around doing the same songs over and over and becomes some sort of nostalgic act that only relies on their past. So whatever you think of the set list it was a great night performance wise. Bruce Dickinson leapt and sprinted across the stage, hit the highest of high notes and whipped the crowd into a frenzy. The band was pitch perfect, so spot on at times it felt I was listening to the recorded tracks. As always, Iron Maiden was a class act. And I’ll be there, front and center, the next time they play in my country no matter what set list they chose to play. This album features 6 tracks from this evening Track listing: 1. Mars The Bringer Of War-intro 2. The Wicker Man 3. Ghost Of The Navigator 4. Wrathchild 5. Dance Of Death 6. The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg
