France’s soirée of festival season is Hellfest, based in the sleepy town of Clisson, which lies half an hour from Nantes in the Pays de la Loire region of the country, and in 2018 the arranged their 13th festival. Last day of the festival (24th of June) was headlined by Iron Maiden that stopped at Hellfest as part of their European leg of their Legacy Of The Beast tour. Opening their set with Aces High and a large WWII style spitfire fighter jet above the stage, Iron Maiden played a set that were a real throwback, filled with all the must-hear hits. Their no question that Maiden is an obvious headliner, even at a massive festival like this you can walk around and be amazed how many visitors with Iron Maiden t-shirts you will see. Bruce Dickinson addressed the crowd in fluent French between songs and even had a 3 minute monologue in French before The Clansman. Definitely the highlight of the festival. This double album from Hellfest also includes bonus tracks from March 24, 1982 at Nogent-sur-Marne in France.
