Reduced price due to some small hairline marks on cds and front cover being vg+ ‘What ho! Sed the 'ting…!’ This tour in support of the Piece Of Mind album was massively successful and helped set the stage for the unprecedented World Slavery Tour a year later. After the previous tour, the rigours of touring and poor health caused drummer Clive Burr to quit the band, and he was replaced by ex-Trust drummer Nicko McBrain. This would be Iron Maiden's most durable line-up, and the one that went on to be one of the most successful rock acts ever. With the exception of the encores, their set list featured mostly songs from the Dickinson era up to that point. Songs such as Phantom Of The Opera and Iron Maiden were slowed down from their breakneck speed tempos of previous tours. The stage set was more elaborate than ever before and featured pyrotechnics and a giant Eddie head above the drum riser. This double album was recorded on Nicko McBrains birthday on the 6th of June 1983 (the date on the back cover is wrong as it says 5th of May) at Johanneshov Isstadion in Stockholm, Sweden. The performance is typical for 1983, The band is firing on all cylinders in support of the new hot album Piece Of Mind, that had been released on May 16th. After the opening intro the band launches into the opening track of the album and concert, Where Eagles Dare, inspired by the 1969 Richard Burton / Clint Eastwood movie of the same in which the allied forces must seize control of a Nazi mountain top fortress, the music twists and turns with many time changes and is an excellent choice for a starter. No time is wasted as the band plows into the new track The Trooper. It sound quite obvious that Bruce was suffering from a nasty cold. The badn continues with tracks like Revelations, the new single Flight Of Icarus, Die With Your Boots On, 22 Acacia Avenue, The Number Of The Beast and the Dave Murray written Still Life and the epic Too Tame A Land, inspired by Frank Herbert’s Dun. Then its time for the solo parts, Dave Murray’s solo is up first and its heavily inspired by Hendrix with is air plane sounds that go into a short guitar drum jam before a blistering flash of notes is unleashed that lead into newcomer Nicko McBrain’s drum solo. After a short drum solo the band goes into the trilogy of terror: Phantom Of The Opera, Hallowed Be Thy Name, and Iron Maiden that concludes the end of the main set. The audience sings Happy Birthday Nicko after Iron Maiden. The first two encores are common fair Run To The Hills and Sanctuary but the last two are very enjoyable, The classic Drifter and Prowler, a track that pretty much retired for many years after this tour and its interesting to hear it with Bruce on vocals. The album ends with an interview with Bruce Dickinson Track listing: 1. Intro 2. Where Eagles Dare 3. The Trooper 4. Revelations 5. Flight Of Icarus 6. Die With Your Boots On 7. 22 Acacia Avenue 8.
