If you like your melodic glam metal super catchy with top notch vocals, stellar guitar playing with a super solid rhythm section and huge backing vocals that just make you want to sing along, the album Walk It Hard by the Polish band Jaywalk is right up your alley. Guitarist Marcin Red Redkiewicz had this to say about how long it took to complete the debut album: To be honest the album was in the making for ages. I believe it might be the longest creation process ever. We could compete with Chinese Democracy by Guns N Roses. We recorded the original six-track demo back in 2012/2013 then we had a break for a couple of years and decided to register the remaining four tunes to make it a full album. We laid down several tracks and… had another break.. and it was on and off for years.. I was quite disappointed with the changing music industry and did not really care about releasing this stuff officially. So it was all put on a shelf, we still kept rehearsing and playing occasional gigs but without any clear direction and plans for the future. Two years ago, a friend of mine who really loved the demo suggested we should talk to his good friend from the US who runs a small independent music label and was really into our music. I was quite reluctant about the idea but eventually gave it a shot. The band re-recorded most of the missing four tunes, remixed the six demo songs and then had it all remastered so it sounded tight and consistent. So it’s been over 13 years from the original demo to the actual release of the album but the original ideas for some of the songs on the album date back to early 2000’s… so you can say I had over two decades to make it what you can hear today. The record is actually quite diverse — from up-tempo, attitude-driven rockers like Fast Lane Ride or Make My Nite to more AOR/pop-metal tunes such as Tell Me or This Time I Mean It, from bluesy/country Tuff Luck to heavy metal Ever Again, from the power ballad Wheres This Love to slow and groovy Sweet n Pretty and Booze Me Up. So it is a very diverse record, everyone will definitely find something they like.
