Stormwatch marked the end of an era in Jethro Tull history, as the last album on which longtime members Barriemore Barlow, John Evan, and David Palmer participated, and the final appearance of bassist John Glascock, who played on three of the cuts (Anderson supplied the bass elsewhere) and died following open-heart surgery a few weeks after its release. Stormwatch 2 A Needle On A Spiral In A Groove features material recorded during the Stormwatch session in 1978 and 1979 that didnt make it onto the original vinyl release. Added onto this release are also the Sweet Dream Fanfare that was recorded on the 11th of September 1978. This was used as an intro piece for the Autumn 1978 and Spring 1979 US tours. Also added are a live version of Sweet Dream that was recorded live during the May 1978 European Tour with some studio overdubs recorded on 15th June 1978 at Pophleys with the Maison Rouge Mobile Studio.
