Show 1: Paul Stanley´s Soul Station At The Rose In Pasadena, Ca On Feb 28, 2016
There were no fireworks or kabuki makeup, no lightning bolts or platform heels, but Paul Stanley of Kiss found some genuine emotional power in a set of classic Sixties and Seventies R&B and it was clearly a labour of love for the singer, way outside his usual rock comfort zone of bombast and shouting out loud. The Starchild had come to share his true love of Motown and Philly soul. The songs were ancient hits by Smokey Robinson, the Temptations, Al Green and the Isley Brothers, and the performances painstakingly re-created the original arrangements, with only occasional nods to Stanley’s other gig. “We’re paying respect, with reverence, to some of the great songs,” Stanley said

Show 2: Ace Frehley At Neptune Theatre In Seattle, Wa On Feb 11, 2017
The Seattle show was the last show of Ace Frehley’s 15-date North American tour and it was held at the sold out Neptune Theatre. Playing songs from his 2016 release Origins Vol. 1 and 2014’s Space Invader, Frehley and his band were on fire. Vocal duties were shared amongst each musician. Drummer Scot Coogan was such a surprise taking on the classic Kiss song, “Love Gun,” and holding down the beat. Ex-Cult bassist Chris Wyse and longtime Frehley collaborator Richie Scarlet were such a dynamic duo on stage. One of the highlights of the night was Frehley announcing a special guest, “I’d like to welcome Mike McCready, who played on my new album, to help us out with this song.” The crowd went wild seeing the Pearl Jam guitarist take over from Scarlet as they broke into “Cold Gin.” McCready was just having a blast rocking out. What a great end to a fun tour for Seattle to witness. There have been several shows that make me appreciate the vibrancy and music community here in this city, and this was yet another highlight to add to that legacy. The rock and roll hall-of-famer will always be a legend in the eyes of many. His “Space Ace” persona is bigger than life and his licks have stood the test of time. What a fantastic night seeing a guitar legend still rocking!

Show 3: Gene Simmons Band At The Pageant In St. Louis, Mo On April 8, 2017
Gene Simmons came to town for the systemic price gouging event known as Wizard World. Gene was not in demon make-up or character. There was no signature monster walk or side to side head bob. No fire breathing or blood spitting but his interactions with the audience were playful, humorous and poignant but most importantly the music was wonderful. The set list was exactly as I would have wished it, consisting of a mix of KISS classics along with several rare tunes which never get played at a full KISS show. He frequently mentioned Ace and Paul when discussing their songwriting contributions. This solo tour showcased the musical substance of KISS, which is regularly overlooked by dismissive outsiders who assume the band is of no consequence without costumes and pyrotechnics. Gene Simmons had several things to prove on this tour. He is not slowing down, he can rock the house without Paul, and the music of KISS is every bit as bombastic without the bombs as it is with them. All these things were proven. I may have overpaid for his autograph, but I walked out of the Pageant feeling I had just gotten the best deal in town.

Show 4: Peter Criss At The Cutting Room In Nyc, Ny On June 17, 2017
Original KISS member, drummer, vocalist, songwriter, author, and cancer survivor- these all describe the legendary Peter Criss. This night, Peter performed his last live show after a long musical journey that spanned over forty years. Criss’s unique jazz influenced rock style and raw raspy vocals were what created Peter Criss’s distinctive sound. Criss is, also, only a handful of drummers who also has singing abilities. Criss is a much loved individual, which was exemplified by chants of “We Love You” throughout the performance. For many of us, the evening was bittersweet. It was a beautiful night of songs that graced our lives; yet it was a realization that a person who was a huge part of our childhood was taking his final bow. It was an end of an era. Once everyone was seated and fed, the lights dimmed. Peter Criss took the stage opening with ‘Can’t Stop The Rain’, a track from his 1978 self titled solo album. A slight hint of his cold that had plagued him all week was present but it quickly vanished as the show progressed. Taking his rightful place behind the drum kit, he continued with his endless history treating the enamoured fans to classic KISS songs as well as choices from his solo career. The highlight, for me, was ‘Strange Ways’ from the KISS album, ‘Hotter Than Hell’; a song written by Ace Frehley and perfected by Peter Criss. There could not be a more perfect song for Criss’s vocal proficiency. Criss took what he calls his “comfortable” spot behind his drum kit and he let loose. The evening progressed with wonderful music and tender moments. Criss told stories, shared memories, and honoured his long time supporters. While each fan had their own favorite song, ‘Beth’ was that one masterpiece all had been waiting for. The track made its appearance on KISS’s popular album ‘Destroyer’. While the album is often referred to as KISS’s ‘Sgnt. Pepper’, ‘Beth’ a ballad, helped put the band on the map. As the string ensemble tuned up, Criss took center stage. He stated that he was about to perform his most noteworthy song, the way he intended it to sound. Criss offered a heartfelt apology for the band not performing after the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction; an issue that upset many loyal KISS followers. Criss went on to thank his former band members, his wife, and his fans. He remarked how happy he was that his parents were able to see him play the famous Madison Square Garden and how grateful he was for everyone attending the show this evening. The familiar piano notes of ‘Beth’ commenced, midway through the song Criss’s emotions were apparent and by the song’s end there was not a dry eye in the room. The show ended with ‘Sing, Sing, Sing’, a tribute to Gene Krupa, who Criss proclaimed as a principal influences on his music career. Criss’s drum performance was seamless. He had travelled full circle ending where he began. He was at ease behind his familiar drum kit, where we knew he belonged.
