Double album on orange vinyls with a 24-page booklet and poster

The Kiss album Animalize had gone platinum and the band managed to book a 6 month long tour in the end of 1984 and the beginning of 1985. However the band was far from focused. As the American tour was in progress Gene’s Runaway movie hit cinemas in December. The Animalize tour concluded on March 29, 1985 at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, New Jersey. In the period following the end of the tour even Eric Carr started to get involved in other projects outside the band. Eric wanted to expand his experience in the music business and started shopping the band New York to record companies. He hoped to eventually produce them. So the band were more interested in their side projects than Kiss and it would only grew bigger during the following year. This album was recorded at Stampede Corral in Calgary, Canada on March 3rd 1985. It was the final show with Queensryche as opening act. A local review said: The makeup may be gone, but the heavy-metal cartoon charisma of Kiss lives… Much like Twisted Sister during its recent trip through Calgary, Kiss used every trick in the book of ritualistic heavy-metal clichés to get the crowd into a hedonistic, us-against-them party mentality… Stanley (who without his makeup bears a remarkable resemblance to Cher) made sure the crowd knew it was them against the world… It all stirred the patriotic heavy-metal heart and the crowd roared its approval again and again. It didn’t matter that the group’s solos were less than inventive and the message of the songs nauseatingly narrow-minded, nor that offstage these reasonably wealthy men are nothing like their concert personae. For the 6,000 fans, it was a chance to see their heroes without the comic-book gimmicks, to see them trying to keep up with the 1980s by putting the accent on heavy metal rather than rock ‘n’ roll. KISS, once again, showed itself to be a master of crowd manipulation
