Description

Double album on red vinyls with poster and insert. Limited 100 copies

By the time Animalize had been released on September 13, 1984, Kiss had settled into their 1980s routine of record-tour-record-tour — while dealing with the issues of Gene Simmons’ growing number of external projects. They also appeared to have settled into a routine of new year, new lead guitarist for what appeared to have become the most temporary job in town. By the time the Animalize tour began the band would find themselves with their fourth guitarist in two years. Vinnie Vincent departed Kiss in March/April 1984 and in stepped Mark St.John for the recording of Animalize. The album quickly reached #19 on the U.S. album charts and #11 on the U.K. album charts benefitting and building on the accomplishments of “Lick It Up” a year earlier. With a Top-Twenty album, more shows could be booked for the upcoming tour. However Mark was diagnosed with ad arthritis and there was no chance of Kiss postponing the tour. It was fortunate that Bruce Kulick had been on the band’s radar for a couple of years. Even better was that Bruce was also at something of a loose end in his own career and when KISS asked Bob Kulick for an emergency suggestion the answer was obvious. On September 30 the Animalize tour began in Brighton, England. Soon to be super-group Bon Jovi received the opening band slot for their first major touring activities outside of the U.S. Even though Animalize was a successful album for the band, that success didn’t always translate into stable well-sold tour dates. As had been the case on the two previous tours a hefty amount of new material was included in the set. For the first show the band opened the set with “I’ve Had Enough (Into The Fire),” and included “Burn Bitch Burn, “Get All You Can Take,” “Heaven’s On Fire,” and “Under the Gun.” Both “Burn Bitch Burn” and “Get All You Can Take” were dropped following their first performances leaving the group to work on the set. “I’ve Had Enough” was also banished from the opening slot following that show with “Detroit Rock City” returning to its rightful place and an Eric Carr sung “Black Diamond” replacing the aforementioned trimmings. This album was recorded at the Falkoner Center in Copenhagen, Denmark on the 21st of October 1984 in front of an audience of approx 2500 Danish fans. As you will notice, on the track list, theres only 2 new songs left from Animalize after 20 days into the tour.
