With the commercial flop that was Music From The Elder the band needed a return to form. The beginning came with a non-US issue best of release, Killers, that featured four new tracks. With that momentum they started working with guitarist Vincent Cusano aka Vinnie Vincent and the results was arguably the heaviest record the band would release, Creature Of The Night. Unfortunately the record did not do much in sales since the damage done by the below average releases in the late 70’s and early 80’s and the over all market saturation. With two original members out of the band Kiss began a tour to support the record, the last to feature the band in full make up until the reunion tour in 1995-96. From a local review: Words can’t do justice to a spectacle of this magnitude. The Kiss concert Wednesday night in the El Paso County Coliseum sizzled and seethed with plumes of smoke, cannon fire, showers of sparks, four Visigoths dressed to the nines and the clamor of nuclear war… The attraction of a Kiss show lays not so much in musical proficiency as in energy, urgency and razzmatazz. What the players lack in melodic coherence they compensate for with visual excess… Generally, the music was more loud than skillful, bearing more vigor than versatility. But the band is not devoid of talent. Another review suggested that Gene had jumped off the stage to confront a fan who had been throwing stuff at him. Following Strutter Paul can clearly be heard threatening a fan for throwing a drink on stage. The band would be banned from future concerts at the venue due to their fans being accused of being too obnoxious and causing damage to the venue. This album was recorded during their 10th Anniversary Tour at the Civic Center in El Paso on the 23rd of March 1983 and the third and final album features a never released 1983 officially mixed album
