Double album on green vinyls with gatefold cover. Limited 400 copies

Between August and December of 1975 Kiss was acting support act for Black Sabbath on their Sabotage tour for 4 shows. This album was recorded on the second of this four nights, namely at the Providence Civic Centre on the 3rd of August. Kiss had to shortened their set. Black Sabbath were very pushy and mean with Kiss, You cant do this, and you cant do that. They said, You have forty minutes, not a second more, or we cut off the lights and sound. Kiss road crew man Mike McGurl remembers; There were times when the public were totally mad and was asking for encores. I had to sit down and negotiate with their tour manager and tell him that the crowd would go crazy if they didnt let the band back out on stage. Mostly it was a big no while at some times we were allowed to do one or two encores. This show at Providence was sold out and the audience reportedly booed heartily when the band’s set finished, wanting more of what they’d just experienced and a local reviewer said: To the fans walking out of the Civic Center last Aug. 3, there was no question who the stars were. Headliners Black Sabbath had been blown off the stage by upstart openers Kiss. No doubt about it. The New York quartet resembled nothing so much as the randomly violent English Droogs of A Clockwork Orange, … any group that knocks off Black Sabbath can’t be all bad. Or can they. The fact was that Kiss had a big confrontation with the Sabbath before this show. The Sabbath road crew had set up their stage so there was a minimal space left for their opening act and Kiss couldnt build there set and there wasnt enough space for their battery lift platform. Bill Aucoin aid to the Kiss road crew to pack everything back in the truck and get out of here and cancel their show. But when everything was back in the truck and they were putting the padlock on the back of the truck, Bill Ward came out and gave everyone $50 extra and told them to get back in and the band did and made the show. Kiss had no problem with Black Sabbath, Sabbath had a problem with Kiss. Every night they had only four feet of space stage and half a dozen lights. Sabbath did everything they could to reduce their impressive stage act remembered the first road manager JR band Smalling. Half an hour after Kiss left the stage, the crowd was chanting Kiss Kiss Kiss. The road manager of Black Sabbath was furious. He had this intense look of Charles Manson and said, Look , 90 % of the people coming to the inquiry box office for Kiss , not Black Sabbath. Ozzy was man enough to come backstage shaking hands with everyone and say, Dude, when a headliner cant keep your audience , the opening act should be a motherfucker. Guys, you are magnificent. Gene Simmons recalls that years later, Ozzy said, That’s when I knew I had to leave the band, because anyone who is scared of opening act has not the heart of a lion.
