Description
Limited picture disc
The four Kiss solo albums released in September 1978 were indeed hit-or-miss affairs. One was very good (Ace Frehley), another was similar to the expected Kiss sound (Paul Stanley), while the other two touched upon different musical styles with varying results (the interesting Gene Simmons and the unfocused Peter Criss). And since Kiss’ popularity continued to soar overseas, a best-of compilation was assembled from the four solo albums. Included are such highlights as Ace Frehley’s “New York Groove,” and Paul Stanley’s “Tonight You Belong to Me,” Gene Simmons’ “Radioactive,” and Peter Criss’ “Tossin’ and Turnin’.” Best of Solo Albums was originally aimed at newer fans who wouldn’t have purchased all four solo albums, but has since become a rare collectors’ item among diehard fans.
