Description

Rare 2011 release on red marbled vinyl with lyric insert and one bonus tracks. Limited 100 copies

Korrozia Metalla was founded in 1984 in Moscow by bass guitarist Sergey Troitsky, better known under stage name Pauk (Spider). The band’s first live show was illegally carried out in an apartment house basement in 1985. Annoyed by their noise, the neighbours called for KGB, who stormed in and forced the band to leave the stage. By this time no Soviet state label was ready to release that kind of music, so Pauk created his own, Corporation of Heavy Rock (КТР- Russian abbreviation). During Perestroika, censorship was lifted, and Korrozia soon became notorious for lyrics and imagery that, although consistent with western death metal traditions, were quite provocative by Soviet Russia’s measures. For their live shows, they employed strip girls to dance on stage and decorated it with pyrotechnics and satanic imagery. Similarly, the band’s lyrics consisted of black humour, describing violence, bloodshed and sodomy. In 1995 after the release of ‘1.966’, Pauk fired the remaining members (Drummer Alexander ‘Yascher’ Bondarenko and guitarist Roman ‘Kostyl The Crutch’ Lebedev) of the original line-up and gradually shifted to right-wing ultranationalist lyrics, similar to that of Oi bands and Pauk wrote songs in support of the Russian army, celebrating the Russian fleet at Crimera. Pauk would continue to show his interest in politics and would later nominate himself for mayor of Moscow (of course without any luck). Their 1997 album ‘Computer Hitler’ was recorded between November 1996 and February 1997. During the tour for this album Pauk even employed a Hitler impersonator for their live shows. The ‘Rap Is Shit part 2’ live version was recorded on the 24th of February 1996 at the Club ‘Fort Ross’ during a drunken binge. ‘Death To Sunarefa/Tzunarefy’ is dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Russian fleet, and was recorded live during the summer of 1996. This was only released as a cassette back in 1997 but due to fan request the tape was remastered and released on cd in 2000 and then finally on vinyl in 2011. The cd and vinyl edition comes with one bonus track called ‘March’, which is nothing more but a vintage recording of a WWII marching song
