Kulto Maldito’s Diaboliko, released in 2011, is raw. Like, straight-up no-filter South American black/death metal with a side of grindcore fury. The band is from Bolivia, which already gives them bonus points for flying the extreme metal flag where it’s not always welcomed. This album? It’s not trying to be pretty. It’s not trying to impress critics. It just wants to summon something dark and let it breathe all over your speakers. First thing you notice – the production. It’s lo-fi as hell. Gritty, grimy, like it was recorded in a basement with a mic held together by duct tape. Some might call that a flaw. I say it fits. The murk adds to the vibe. You’re not supposed to hear every note clean – you’re supposed to feel the chaos. And chaos is everywhere here. Riffs come fast, drums blast like a war march, and the vocals? Pure demonic growl. Belial 666 (yeah, that’s his name) sounds possessed. In a good way. A perfect album for chaos lovers
