Description

The Apulian band LaCasta performs a mix of black metal and crust hardcore that materializes in a genre nicknamed blackened hardcore. Their self produced album Ecyclia was released in December of 2015 and features six tracks. Encyclical is a circular letter sent by the Pope on doctrinal, moral and social topics to the bishops and, through them, to the faithful and is testified by the iconography of the Pope of the tarot on the cover. The circularity mentioned is found in the EP structure which is marked by the presence of an intro and an outro. The EP proposes an essential production in which the voice fails to rise above the instruments from which it is dominated and instead excessively emphasizes the instrumental aggressiveness and chaotic sonority that are typical aspects of the genre. Prodution wise we could have asked for more but the band possesses skills and energies which lead to a more than decent debut in the end.
