Description
Lace shares their music and heritage from their days on the Sunset Strip on this self-titled album. Lace consisted of John Kutowski (aka Lacey) on guitar, Shawn McNeely (aka Neely) on bass, Tom Zarakas (aka Tommy Z) on drums, and Mike Vallarella (aka Val) on vocals. As Lace, they were a united front, and each member carried their own weight in what was a team mentality. Lace, who started off as a glam band in Long Island, New York, eventually took the plunge and relocated to Los Angeles. There they played all the clubs that the hot indie bands played like the Troubadour and Gazzarri’s. Their draw ensured that they were regulars of the major hot spots on a regular basis. Like many of the other bands of the scene, Lace received a record deal in 1992, only for the label to fold. Lace persevered and self-released a 4 track cassette. The EP featured catchy glam metal anthems and heartfelt ballads. Now comes finally for the first time all Lace recordings done between 1989 and 1992. Perhaps prettier than Poison but that didnt help when the musical climate changed in the mid 90s and most of these Hollywood dreamers were sacked from their labels and replaced by grunge bands when all labels wanted to find the new Nirvana.
