Description

The American funk-rock singer and guitarist Lenny Kravitz was rejected by virtually all major labels and dismissed by many as a mere Sixties revivalist. His 1989 album, Let Love Rule, encountered harsh words from critics but the public liked the mix of soul and rock which ended up in the charts (US#61, UK#56) and gave him a fervent following and was voted Best New Male Singer by Rolling Stone. Lenny himself said that he wanted to create an honest sound, which sounded outdated to some listeners. Before the album started to take off Mr Kravitz went to Europe for some gigs in 1989. This album was recorded at The Paradiso in Amsterdam, The Netherlands on the 13th of December 1989. It was during his visit to Holland that the guitarist and singer discovered weed and Led Zeppelin on the same day. Marijuana and rock ’n’ roll became my steady diet, singer-guitarist writes in a passage in his Let Love Rule book. It was also up to 1989 that Kravitz found himself and his voice. Through that experience, love was the force that paved the way and love became my message, said Kravitz. So here you can hear Kravitz performing 9 tracks from his debut album live as well as a Jimi Hendrix cover tune.

Track list:
1. Flower Child
2. Blues For Sister Someone
3. Mr. Cab Driver
4. Freedom Train
5. Be
6. My Precious Love
