Billy Butt, is a well-known composer and producer in Sweden whose works have topped the Scandinavian charts for almost three decades. He was born in East Africa of Indian parents and grew up in Ireland where he attained a diploma at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin. He moved to Sweden in 1983 and within just a year he had founded his label Little Big Apple Records. The first artist to get released on his new label was Swedish musician Pontus Peter Jonas Platin. Another artist that were available at the time were Barbro Lill-Babs Svensson. Billy Butt and Anders Henriksson arranged and wrote tracks for this 1984 album that would simply be called “Barbro”. This was a step away from Lill-Babs earlier material as its almost a europop album. While this album was recorded Billy Butt thought it was a good idea to try to turn Lill-Babs 15-year old daughter Kristin Kaspersen to a little star. Two tracks were recorded for a vinyl single. The A-side was a cover of New York Times, originally written by Leonard Washington but Kaspersens version includes newly written lyrics in Swedish by Pontus Platin. The B-side “He’s Dangerous” was penned by Billy Butt. Both these tracks were then added to Lill-Babs album “Barbro”. Kristin Kaspersen never became a star as a recording artist but instead become a well-known and good program leader for Swedish national television. Overall a quite tricky album to come by.
