Many people consider this to be the best Lord Belial record. For some strange reasons Lord Belial have never been registering that high on the list of original black metal bands from Sweden. Formed in 1992 with a debut album out already by 1995 they definitely deserves to be mentioned among the bigger names of the Swedish black metal scene. Lord Belial are a tight and solid evil little band. The whole album itself is quite brutal and very fast, dominated by blastbeats, lightning fast tremolo picking and screeching/growling vocals. Exceptions are “Forlorn in Silence”, a fabulous acoustic piece with intricate licks and just an awesome overall atmosphere, “Path With Endless Horizons” and “Lamia” – both feature great melodic guitars and good female vocal additions. This is a pretty darned enjoyable album, especially through headphones late at night. Fredrik Nordstrom’s production is vibrant and gives the chaos some semblance of structure, greatly enhancing the overall feel. A complete Lord Belial discography should be in any serious black metal collection before you call it complete
