Description

Dutch pressing with printed innersleeve

After recording three albums produced by the incomparable Bruce Fairbairn, Loverboy went in a different direction and recruited Tom Allom, most noted at the time for producing Judas Priest, to produce Lovin Every Minute Of It. They also turned to more outside songwriters to help them out, and the results are interesting. The title track, written by Mutt Lange, is a total stomp–and the video was hilarious–while songs like Bullet In The Chamber and Steal The Thunder are harder that anything they’d done previously. However the album lacks some of Paul Dean’s amicable guitar chug or Mike Reno’s excitable vocal pounce that made the three first album so enjoyable. The band achieved its first American top ten hit with the pretty ballad This Could Be The Night, but don’t overlook Destination Heartbreak either. I wouldn’t use this album to introduce someone to Loverboy, but overall it’s not bad.
