Luis Alberto Spinetta (1950–2012), nicknamed El Flaco (Spanish for skinny), was an Argentine singer, guitarist, composer and poet. One of the most influential rock musicians of Argentina, he is regarded as one of the founders of Argentine rock, considered the first incarnation of Spanish-language rock. Spinetta devoted himself fully to his own music. In his lyrics, there are influences of multiple writers, poets and artists like Arthur Rimbaud, Vincent van Gogh, Carl Jung, Sigmund Freud, Friedrich Nietzsche, Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze, Carlos Castaneda and Antonin Artaud. Spinetta passed away in February of 2012 in lung cancer. His ashes were scattered in Buenos Aires in the waters of the Río de la Plata, according to his last wish. In 1977 he released the album A 18 Del Sol (18 Minutes From The Sun) and its a great sonic adventures. Ith as it all: jazz, rock, acoustic streaks, electrical alchemy and poetry. Spinetta had abandoned the proggressive take and instead he recorded a jazz-rock bossa nova recording with lots of rock and folk rock touches and all is mixed with the impeccable guitar playing by Spinetta. Back in 70s Spinetta was a local god so its sad to see that this album is such a forgotten album by a great Argentine musician.
