From Detroit, USA came Madam X and their self-titled, one and only album, ‘We Reserve The Right’ and for many things were never quite the same again. Produced by American rock legend Rick Derringer and featuring soon-to-be Vixen drummer Roxy Petrucci and her guitar playing sister Maxine, Madam X were loud visually and musically and turned heads in major fashion. If you want to know what 1980’s-era hair metal was about? This album is IT in a nutshell. Looking at the song titles and album cover gives you the gist of the album’s feel and subject matter: sex, double meanings, more sex, drugs, sleeze, still more sex, and rock ‘n’ roll; all of the songs have a great crunchy, driving guitar sound that should allow you to bang your head and pump your fists (except for one, “Max Volume,” which is a crunchy, driving guitar solo ala Eddie Van Halen’s “Eruption” so you can hold your Bic lighter above your head instead of your fists). The cover of this “book” does not lie-Tipper Gore and the rest of the PMRC would likely have had heart attacks if ever exposed to this album. Available here for the first time on CD, ‘We Reserve The Right’ is a timeless rock record crammed with anthemic, air punchin’ tracks like the single ‘High In High School’ and ‘ Come One, Come All’. Essential!.
