Magnum don’t do things by half measures. Every album has a purpose and fits into their impressive music catalogue. Even if The Valley Of Tears is a compilation its still no exception. The band has hand picked a number of their ballads for this album and then remixed, remastered and in sometimes even re-record them and the end result is nothing but a pleasure to listen to. All songs are skillfully written by Tony Clarkin and vocally crafted to perfection by Bob Catley. The songs are full of emotion and feelings from the opening line of Dream About You to last chorus of When The World Come Down. So dont think you dont need this album because you already have the original versions on other albums. They have managed to make songs that were perfect in the first place even more perfect now by giving new life to them. Especially the ballad re-recoded acoustically. So no matter what you think about compilations THIS is the exception to the rule, this is a valued addition to any Magnum collection
