Manegarm have always had countless folk influences in their albums, and even sometimes throwing in a purely acoustic track at the end of their studio efforts. So for any Manegarm fans who own other albums by the band it doesnt come as a huge surprise that the band someday would release an acoustic album. So when it comes to Urminnes Hävld then think of it as an folk version of their metal songs, with more female vocals and folk instruments. There is a very live feel to this album, it is by no means overproduced and really has a warm and group atmosphere to it. The vocal harmonising at times is less than perfect, but in my opinion this leads to the overall charm of the release. The standout track for me is Utfard, combining the best of the female vocals and the male harmonising. Culminating in an energetic and upbeat track that i defy you not to tap your feet or clap you hands to. All in all it is a relatively good release which is improved by its uniqueness, any Manegarm fan should probably invest here, also folk music listeners will find plenty here to grab hold of. A strong release within its own genre.
