Marduk’s 15th studio album, Memento Mori, is one of the more interesting albums the band havs released in some time. Marduk has always been at their best when they write their war metal hymns. But this one differs in many ways. Mortuus has written a lot of the lyrics and sometimes its a homeage to death, others shows religions in a provocative way and others takes us down the road of Swedish history like the death of Gustav II. The other thing that feels different is the overall sound of the album. Were used to Morgan’s guitar playing but on this album its more in the background the band has chosed to put the drums and the bass more in the forefront. And in my opinion this creates a rich texture to the album and it makes Marduk sounding more fresh then they have done in some time.
