The two tracks on this shaped picture disc was taken from Mayhems 2019 album Daemon and album that feels like a return to the old Black Metal roots of De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas. The recording is pretty clean, the guitars follow conventional D-tuned chromatic minor-chord scalar runs that inevitably bring to mind Dark Funeral and Naglfar, the breaks are pretty rhythmic and seem more akin to Dimmu Borgir or Valkyrja than the old Samael E/F semitones, the guitar solos are professionally improvised with shred tricks, and Attila Csihar’s vocal performance is desperately charismatic, but shows he has lost most of his vocal prowess of the past, often using double growl harmonies.
