Double album on black vinyls
After Cliff Burtons tragic death on the 27th of September 1986 Metallica had to cancel all the remaining European dates on the Damage Inc tour. Jason Newsted debuted with the band with two warm up shows on the 8th and 9th of November before getting right into action with the bands Japan tour starting on the 15th of November that year. On the 8th of January in 1987 the band headed back to Europe to play the cancelled countries. The tour started with two shows in Denmark but then it was time to head back to Sweden to do a show at Lisebergshallen in Gothenburg on the 10th of January. However this was the coldest winter in a long time and part of the equipment could not be shipped from Denmark to Sweden because the ferry’s had to be cancelled due to thick ice. Instead the band added a show in Gothenburg, now at Frolundaborg at the end of the tour. 13th of February was the date and this was the final show on the Damage Inc tour (this album was recorded here that night and it also includes three bonus tracks). Metal Church couldn’t do this extra date and Lars called up his old mate King Diamond who supported them for this show. Listening to this show nowadays is a nice trip down the memory lane. This show is so pure Metallica – hard and in your face. The band were also a bit loose and fooled around since it was the last date on the tour. Overall an incredible night and people who were there still remember this as one of their best live shows attended. What a magic night
