Description
2026 remastered box set with 25 discs
Metallica recorded so much material for Load — their first album in five years — that they had to leave many songs unfinished, otherwise they would have missed their deadline. During the supporting tour for Load, they continued to work on the unfinished material, as well as write new songs, and they soon had enough material for a new album, Reload. The title suggests that Reload simply is a retread of its predecessor and in many ways that’s correct — there’s still too much bone-headed, heavy Southern rock for it to be anything other than the sequel to Load — but there’s enough left curves to make it a better record. Marianne Faithfull’s backing vocals on “The Memory Remains” complement the weird, uneasy melody, the riffs of ‘Attitude’, ‘Fuel’ the adrenaline pumping near-thrasher and the splendid ‘Carpe Diem Baby’ a track that just jumps out at you like a facehugger in the Alien films. Even though the album is filled with great moments its still up to this point there worst album they’d released but who the fuck cares? The worst Tallica record steamrolls the best release from 90% of the bands out there. This is an album that rewards much listening, re-listening, and study. The box set documents the 1997-1998 era of the band. 25 discs that bursts with exclusives including previously unreleased demos, rough mixes, live performances, on-air and television appearances, and much more. This features the remastered ReLoad album on double vinyl, The Memory Remains 7 and Live At Ministry Of Sound 97, a 140g triple album recorded live. The set’s 15 CDs range from the remastered ReLoad album to never-before-released collections of riffs, demos and rough mixes, B-Sides and rarities, and a wealth of live material, while its 4 Dvds offer a plethora of behind the scenes, in-studio and live footage, on-air and television appearances, the band’s pop-up performance at the CoreStates Complex Parking Lot in Philadelphia, visits to Seoul, and more. Rounding out the box’s content are memorabilia including a pack of 13 Rorschach Test cards, a Gimme Fuel poster, a sticker, a Pushead print, a 10-pack of guitar/bass picks, lyric sheets, three laminated tour passes and a deluxe 128-page book with never-before-seen photos and stories from whose who were there.
