The Rock Am Ring Festival in Nuremberg, German has taken place since 1985, and has been the largest rock music festival in Germany since 1991. Rock am Ring at the Nurburgring celebrated their 28th anniversary in 2012 and it is a dual site festival with Rock Im Park taking place at the Zeppelinfield at the same time. The headliners this year was Die Toten Hosen and Metallica. This megabox set features Metallicas performance from the Rock Im Park festival on the 1st of June and the band played the whole Black album in reversed order in their setlist. Before the band went on stage you could feel the tension in the crowd. This is the band most people had come to see this day. The excitement is there and then comes the Ecstasy Of Gold intro and the crowd goes nuts. The band opens with Hit The Lights and the sound is excellent and Metallica are in a good mood. James Hetfield shakes hands with people in the snakepit. This was a flawless performance both vocally and musically and also in terms of pyro etc. Definitely the highlight for many of the festivals visitors this year. This box also features two bonus tracks performed at the Rock Am Ring festival the night after, the 2nd of June.
