Description
Rock Milestones is an unauthorized documentary dvd series
This time the Rock Milestones machine takes on Metallica’s classic album Master Of Puppets. While this metal album certainly deserves a video review, it could have been done better. In terms of chronology, the film efficiently looks at the beginnings of the band, starting with Dave Mustane. A good deal of time is spent on the way that Ride The Lightning foreshadowed Master Of Puppets. The reviewers here feels refreshing as we can avoid those rabid metalhead point-of-views. The four critics Mick Wall, Ian Fortnam, Steve Beebee and Ian Winwood make a balance of some insightful and highly debateable opinios. The video and musical footage however isnt up to par for newly produced dvd material. The makers of this series has taken material from public domain concerts which makes it very limited. Masters Of Puppets was an important part for all fans of the Burton era of the band but here we mostly get material from the album performed by Burton’s replacements, Jason Newsted and Robert Trujillo. Like the MTV clips, the newsreel material is often very rewarding. Here’s the bottom line. If you’re a die-hard, you may get little out of this, but you’ll get something. In particular, the vintage footage is very enjoyable. At the end of the day, Master Of Puppets is a phenomenal album this documentary isnt, but still enjoyable
