Midnattsol is Norwegian for Midnight Sun. This is a German-Norwegian Symphonic/Folk Metal band formed 2002 by Norwegian vocalist Carmen Elise Espenaes who previously worked with Leaves Eyes and Theatre Of Tragedy vocalist Liv Kristine on here solo material. Liv Kristine herself would join the band in 2017 and would appear on a Midnattsol album for the first time on The Aftermath, released in 2018. Although their sound can be classified as symphonic metal, the band prefers to call their style Nordic folk metal because of the folk elements in their music and occasional Norwegian lyrics. The bands third album, The Metamorphosis Melody, was released in 2011 and it captures the magical world of Nordic legends and sagas. The band, spearheaded by vocalist Carmen continues to refine their characteristic sound and delivers a new jewel to the folk metal genre. The band has created an impressive and very charming album, which shines as brightly and mysteriously as the aurora borealis. For fans of Leaves Eyes and Epica.
