Misfits has become one of the most influencial punk acts and they were quite different to many other punks band around that time. Will most others were writing about injustice and political things Misfits were just campy fun. Misfits musicianship was as crude as the recording quality of most of their oeuvre but they wrote tracks that were catchy with anthemic melodies and lyrical obsession with grade-B horror films and splatter imagery. The Misfits were formed in Lodi, New Jersey, in 1977 and the band would release singles and perform live through several years before releasing their debut album Walk Among Us in 1982. That particular album proved to be one of the finest additions of their complete discography. This strictly limited album features demo material and studio sessions leading up to the recording of that debut album. Horror Hotel and Ghouls Night Out were recorded in August of 1980 while the other 11 tracks of the Walk Among Us demos were recorded in June to August of 1981. The 5-tracks from The Spot Sessions demos features material that would end up on their Earth A.D. Album
