Mondo New York was a movie that was supposed to give us an insight into some of the performance art performed in New York during the 1980s. To do this, it follows an anonymous woman around the city as she wanders from one performance to the next. There is no narration or commentary to this (apart from an opening introduction). The camera simply follows our mystery lady around town and stays long enough to witness each performance. So whats the point? Well the tagline said “This is art, baby!” but those called artists might just be some freaks and weirdos in other peoples eyes. So overall its more of a time capsule of the early 80s music scene in New York. The soundtrack and the artists on the album ranges from electronic, latin, alternative rock to new wave and punk. We also find a track on this album by Us punk rock act Manitobas Wild Kingdom with the eccentric Dick Manitoba. This is pretty much the same band as The Dictators with a few line-up changes. T
