L.A. in the early 80s: A tough local punk scene, a co-existing pop/new wave scene, and radio drenched in synth pop scene thats were Motley came out with stacked heels on one end and stacked hair on the other, hollerin’ and screamin’ their teen anthems and spelling their rock ‘n’ roll with big loud capital Rs (and those German dot thingys over all the vowels). Without exaggeration, they ignited L.A.’s early-’80s metal scene. Late in the summer of 1982 the Crue returned back to California from their successful Crüesing Through Canada Tour. The band spent the rest of 1982 with playing California cities like San Francisco, Pasadena, Santa Rosa, Los Angeles and Carona while at the same time working on their forthcoming Shout At The Devil album. On the 19th of November they played two shows at Perkins Place in Pasadena and this album is recorded during the first of the two shows that night. Anyone who has the Live Entertainment Or Death album can listen to tracks like Merry Go Round and Starry Eyes but for you who want more then this is a must. This show was recorded for the KMET radio and has a great sound. Motley Crue plays two tracks from their forthcoming album, the title track Shout At The Devil and Running Wild In The Night that later were dropped from the album. This is a great show where Motley go through their tracks that sounds like a mix of Cheap Trick’s poppy hard rock, the harder side of ’70s British glitter (think Slade and Mott) and Nikki Sixx’s then already-developed knack for sing-along, fist-pumping hooks. The album is a great, true and untainted document of this rock ‘n’ roll animal before they exploded into major stardom.
