Green vinyl. Limited 400 copies

No Sleep ’til Hammersmith, released on the 27th of June 1981, was Motorhead most successful in terms of chart positioning, peaking at #1 on the UK charts, having capitalized on the preceding success of the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre EP and Ace of Spades album and single. Lemmy believed its success was due to a building anticipation from their fan base for a live album, due to the band having toured so heavily in the past, but also considered it “our downfall” due to the difficulty in following up its success. Motorhead toured constantly from the start and all the way up to the sad loss of Lemmy on the 28th of December 2015. 1981 was no exception. The tour that year started in February and lasted all the way up to the 23rd of December. The last shows in November was called No Sleep Til Christmas Tour and it ended with three shows in Ireland, Whitla Hall in Belfast on the 23rd of December where this album is recorded was the last date that year. Motorhead could do no wrong at this point in time, as they were laying the foundation for the coming thrash movement, in a way. The Irish Bomber captures the band at its earth-shattering, genre-forming peak with the legendary power trio line-up on high octane. Anyone visiting this tour will remember how it felt lie the eardrums were slowly melting. God how loud they were. This show was a bit special since Motorhead after that were absent from Northern Ireland for much of the Eighties and Nineties. As Lemmy explains, there was a valid reason: “Wurzel (guitarist from 1984 to 1995) got posted to Belfast when he was in the Army. We just didn’t want to risk it, you know? There are some nutters out there” This album also features three bonus tracks recorded at Theatre Royal in Nottingham, England on the 20th of August 1980
