Motörhead recorded at The Vieilles Charrues Festiva in France on the 17th of July 2008. The festival is the largest music festival in France, attracting more than 200,000 festival-goers every year. This festival was created in 1992 in Landeleau, a small village in central Finistere. At that time, less than 500 revellers attended and the festival was more like a private party. In 1998, due to lack of space on the original site, the festival moved for the second time. This time to the outskirts of Carhaix. The line-up for the first night of the 2008 festival, Thursday the 17th of July, was Ben Harper And The Innocent Criminals, Motörhead, Babyshambles and BB Brunes. This was like a dream come true for the organisation as some of the board members were huge Motorhead fans, as board member Jean-Jacques Toux remembers: I’ve always been a fan of Motorhead so when we heard from Jean-Philippe Quignon (now deceased) that it was confirmed that they would come it was crazy. We were both hyperventilating to get one our most beloved groups. Then when we received the technical sheet. It was written in bold on the first page: Dont forget that Motorhead is the group that plays the loudest in the world. When the musicians launched their first chord on stage, we knew it was true. It was so loud that our knees were shaking and the pants wavering of the sound. We didnt miss anything of this concert. First me and Jean-Philippe were on the side of the stage but then we went in front as a Motorhead concert is best experienced live among the public. Afterwards Lemmy showed that he was a very gentle and respectful guy. He had this huge personality on stage but afterwards he was this gentle normal guy that were kind to all the staff even the catering personal and the volunteers. This album features the complete show together with 3 bonus tracks from Estadio Victor Jara in Santiago, Chile on the 2nd of May 2007
