Description
The history of New York crossover act Napalm dates back to 1984 when they were founded under the name of Combat. When they were signed in 1986 to the record label Combat then they changed name to Napalm. They debuted with an EP in the Combat boot camp series. At the beginning the band had a singer with a very rough voice (Chris Weidner) and they played a very energetic crossover thrash style in similar fashion to Anihilated. When they let Stig Chris Liggio handle the microphone instead they really changed considerable more into the Death Angel way. Chris Liggios cleaner and a more medium-high vocals fitted the bands style much better. With their second album Zero To Black the band had abandon most of their hardcore elements and its overall more melodic even including some sort of ballad with The Other Side Feels Grey. There are several technical and sometimes even progressive thrash metal opus and theres also a few tracks where the band starts to experiment and travels into Mordred territory (like the title track). This was released in 1990 and most thrash bands tried to expand their sound, when fans turned their back on the normal thrash music, to survive. Zero To Black was what Napalm came up with at these rougher times and when its good its good and when its odd its still interesting. It disappointed a lot of older fans but looking back on it, its quite original and open minded thrash metal fans should check it out Track listing: 1. Teenage Illusion 2. Time And Time Again 3.
