The last couple of years metalcore is experiencing a global resurgence in popularity and it seems every label is releasing an increasing number of bands with every passing year. Italian metalcore act Necromid released their debut “The Sleep Of Reason” in 2009. Like country mates Dead Return this band plays an American take on the genre similar to acts as Darkest Hour, Killswitch Engage, Lamb Of God and Shadows Fall. Metalcore is something that goes along the groove addicted of Pantera / Machine Head while taking inspiration from the melodic Swedish death cleared by people like In Flames and Soilwork. Necromid follow this metalcore pattern and the playing is adequate and the instrumental mastery is well above average but the band do nothing out of the ordinary to warrant any special attention. The Sleep Of Reason is a well executed album with a solid production and some of the songs contain an excellent hook – but besides the Elvis Presley cover ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ there’s hardly something special delivered here. Necromid’s “The Sleep Of Reason is a good starting point but if you want to emerge in the sea of Metalcore bands or if youre a fan of the genre, but its probably not enough here to attract new fans to the genre
