Gates Of Metal was a Swedish metal festival held at the Folkets Park in Hultsfred and it was active during four years, 2003 to 2006. The first festival which was held in August of 2003 featured the line-up of Nightwish, Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, Freedom Call, Kreator, Lost Horizon, Arch Enemy, Iron Savior, Wolf, Merciless, Stormwarrior and Norther. Nightwish performed on the 2nd of August and they were still out on their “World Tour Of The Century” 2002-2003 tour to promoted their fourth album, Century Child. The tour was the debut of Marco Hietala, who had replaced Sami Vänskä as bassist in 2001. As the outro theme the band had choses Felicia Sorenson – “Once”, almost a year before that album would be released. This strictly limited double album features the show from Gates Of Metal together with three bonus tracks recorded at Dynamo Open Air in June of 2004.
