Nihil Nocture from Dortmund shows an amazing amount of musical awareness with their debut album Necrohell. They are mixing somewhat progressive chord structures, with a slightly thrashy, German, black metal grimness. This album has some great riffs and a raw melodic black metal power. Keyboards are used well in most parts, and are not heavily used on the album as a whole. Mostly to build the atmosphere with in the rhythms the guitar is playing. Adds another layer to the atmosphere created by the music. Overall fits the sound well. The production and all the instruments in it are very well balanced without anything being overpowering, even when they used things like clean guitars and keyboards, both these elements took on a just there feel when used as opposed to other bands who manage to butcher their songs by not blending properly. The shared vocals are also stunningly performed especially compared to their later material including Wahsinn Tod Verrat which in my opinion was a little bit of a let down (but then again, its not easy to follow up such a great album as this). Listen to the ninth song Necrotower where it really shines and then put over a Gorgoroth type quick tempo speed picked chords. There are many parts with multiple vocals screaming, growling, whatever that sound evil as fuck and fit the rhythm so well. Over a great album and if you want to check this band out then i would recommend this album
