In the autumn of 1989 Nirvana was out touring with another late 80s Seattle grunge act, TAD. This tour was made to promote their first full length album Bleach. On the 20th of November the two acts played at the Kapu club in Linz, Austria. This was the 18th stop on their 36 shows European tour. In all honesty the media attention for the two acts were low. Grunge wasnt on anyones radar yet, atleast not in Eurupe. The original tour ad was published in the Oberösterreichische Nachrichten on the 14th of November, less than a week before the show, and the support act was spelled incorrectly as Nirwana, a further proof of how unknown the band were at the time. The band however were reviewd in the press the day after as; Nirvana is more popular in the States than the main act. Nirvana draws their influences from the Stooges and the early Black Sabbath to the Beatles and the mid-seventies Teen idols Bay City Rollers: The songs have nice melodies, but are performed wildly. Frontman Kurdt Kobain has a reputation for his live performance and guitars and amplifiers are often smashed during their concerts. Two years later, the band were the hottest on the planet and singer and songwriter Kurt Cobain would become a legendary icon after his suicide in 1994. Nirvana played for just under an hour and Cobain had problems with the guitar but the shows would go down in history for those who were there.
