Look into the mirror
See someone else than me
Nothing but a poor excuse
Of who i used to be

I dont know how many times i have run into bass player Nils Eriksson or guitarist Fredrik Mannberg the last years and hearing about the progress of the recording. “Its on its way and its soon finished” is probably something we have heard several times with many bands but when i finally saw a confirmed released date from AFM records, I was over the moon. Ten years have passed since their last release The 8th Sin. I know there are a lot of fans out there hoping that this would be a return to the classic old school power metal sound of the first three albums but what we got here is a continuation of the modern power metal style the band explored with Afterlife. In fact i doubt anyone would guess that there is 10 years between The 8th Sin and Phoenix as it feels like its a continuation of The 8th Sin. I guess this will disappoint a lot of fans who thought The 8th Sin was their weakest album, but personally i couldnt have cared less. I fell in love with this band in 1995 when they released In A Time Of Blood And Fire and im just happy to have a new release out and to hear Jonny Lindqvist’s voice again. I have spent days with this new opus and it wont live up to their best albums in their back catalouge but im still so excited about it and i hope all old fans of the band will give it a try as it deserves to be heard. This is an excellent metal offering from one of my many favourite bands
