Northwind is a Spanish progressive symphonic power metal band that really nails it with their second release El Retorno Del Rey. The music is fast and furious at times and also epic symphonic and progressive yet at other times interludes will connect solidly with the Blackmore’s Rainbow crowd where the guitar work is again excellent. Sometimes I dislike the vocals that tend to come with epic progressive metal. Here the vocals are to be considered a highlight. The lead vocals do not have a pretty or clean voice – instead it sounds like a real male voice – singing something that he means to be singing. Of course the lyrics are in Spanish which richens the experience. Northwinds second album is highly recommended to fans of epic progressive metal, speed symphonic metal but theres also so many other elements that it should please all kinds of metal fans
