German pressing on Bronze records with the European cover artwork

Diamond Heads lead vocalist Sean Harris and former David Byron and Magnum guitarist Robin George were no stranger to each other. The two had worked together back on Diamond Heads debut album, the white album also knows as Lightning To The Nations. Robin George were the producer on the track Sweet And Innocent. In 1985 when both of them where tired of their current record label situation and Diamond Head were starting to demise the two decided to renew their old Sweet And Innocent partnership. They founded Notorious an act that not only brought together Robins gifted guitar and Seans vocals, but also their collective writing skills, not to mention Robins production skills. So much potential in one group is just mouth watering. Notorious provided a perfect vehicle for them both with Robins controlled yet scorching breaks alongside his new partners versatile vocals. For Sean it was something of a step towards a more commercial style than Diamond Heads early metal. They lived up to their Notorious name by writing some quality rock tracks and superior ballads. 15 tracks were recorded in Robins home studios and their manager, Stewart Young, wanted to release the tracks exactly as they were recorded with lots of genuine feelings. However both Robin and Sean agreed on that they wanted perfection this time. The men in suits at the record label liked what they heard and moved in. The Notorious tapes and songs went through countless of rehearsal rooms and no less than eight different studios across both Europe and America. Six different producers worked on the material and two years later the spark was gone and Robin and Seans dream had become their nightmare. In the end they had spent huge amounts of money on the album and ten tracks finally got released in 1990 by Geffen in the States and Bronze records in Europe (the two versions had different cover artworks). A mini album and a shaped picture disc were also released and the album managed to chart before it allegedly was killed by a change of staff at the record company. Another track Here We Go was recorded for the ‘Highlander II’ movie soundtrack with Glenn Hughes on backing vocals. When the album finally was out the two had lost their hunger and interest in the band and Robin George were soon back to pursue a solo career instead. The original recording that Stewart Young wanted to release back in 1985 (featuring 15-tracks) were finally released in 2010 under the name of Radio Silence. If youre into slick melodic hardrock then check this 1990 version out. Its top class
