Nunslaughter was formed in 1987 and can be seen as one of the pioneers of the American death metal underground movement. One Night In Hell captures the band live at the Blind Lemon in Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A. on the 31st of March 2001. This release finds the band barrelling through old classics such as Fire and Death By The Dead alongside other wonderful obscurities that make Nunslaughter both a slamming death metal band and onstage hilarity machine. Don Of The Dead (one of the greatest stage name ever) and crew pound away with satanic zeal, the onstage shtick is as funny as ever and the only presentation weakness comes from a rather drum-driven mix that leaves the guitars a bit buried beyond what they should be. Otherwise…the basic ?live? feel is perfect. The best numbers on this are the classics. Songs like Fire and Death by the Dead never grow old. On a release with this many tracks it’s hard to pick and choose a favourite but the song remains the same – Nunslaughter write some of the most slamming material to date. The songs are consistent and the energy never lags. Nunslaughter fans need to own this cause the band entertain like no other both onstage and in the studio. Fans and fanatics alike need to pick this up if they can find it.
