On Oh no… it’s Christmas! Swedish pop elite gather to celebrate Christmas together, and yes it is actually much better than most other things with a Christmas connection that has been released this year. Some of the groups take this holiday seriously, some would like to stand over and make fun of it. It is inevitable in a collection like this. Once the album is summed up, however, it is obvious that it is the atmospheric, slightly more serious pieces that are the golden nuggets on this disc. With that said, you understand that The Soundtrack Of Our Lives is about as sad as usual and that modern hyper like Suburban Kids With Biblical Names and The Tiny are not something to hang on the Christmas tree. So there, shit done, then we can concentrate on the collection’s goodies. Because they are many. Maia Hirasawa offers a sociable piece that warms like Christmas mulled wine after a strenuous shoveling of snow. The Thousand Dollar Playboys wish us a Merry Christmas in an incredibly beautiful way and The Perishers are as nice as usual when they sing Blue Christmas. The atmosphere overall is very nice, but there are three peaks that position themselves as something better than everything else. The Consequences offers a laid-back melody called Some kind of magic, just to enjoy just before Kalle Anka. Kristofer Åström makes I saw mummy kissing Santa Claus a real sob. A phenomenally beautiful interpretation and the Indie Choir ends the entire album with a melancholic version of Whams Last Christmas. That such a cheeky song can be interpreted so finely tuned and appealing is impressive. It’s so that you really start to long for Christmas. If there is any Christmas album that should be at the top of the wish list, it is without a doubt Oh no… it’s Christmas!
