Description

Polish pressed music cassette. White cassette with paper label. Limited 500 numbered copies

Polish black metal band formed in Swidnica Slaska back in 1996. The band released several demos the following years before releasing their first full length album, When I Cut The Throat, in 2003. This is pretty much the same musicians that plays in another Polish black metal act, namely Selbstmord. Musically this could be considered comparable to Burzum, although vocally this is in a lower register as the Count’s earlier works. There are also other Nordic hints on this work as some of the guitar work gives subtle reminders of The Shadowthrone era Satyricon. Allow no mistake, this reference is in no way to suggest that there is a direct comparison or copying of Satyricon. (I wold not suggest that a latter era catalogue fan of Satyricon would find much of interest here). There are minimal atmospheric elements in this work and what is found here is created by guitars rather than keyboards (which are not present). These 6 tracks form a complete theme, as opposed to sounding like different ideas lumped together to form a compilation. Track numbers 2 and 3 (Neverending Lust of Inversion and Delivering The Edge of the Knife respectively) are album highlights, although there are few weak moments in this release. The latter particularly demonstrates a level of songwriting that is regretfully uncommon in this subgenre. Another element that impresses me throughout the work is that they use changes of tempo and breaks without sounding gimmicky or inappropriately epic. The speed for the majority of this disc is mid-tempo to fast, however never falling into a rut of repeated blasting or boring lulls.

Track list:
1. Order
2. Neverending Lust Of Inversion
3. Delighting The Edge Of Knife
4. When I Cut The Throat
5. Essence Of The Dream’s Depth
6. Trust Is The Road To Nowhere
