Description

Omega was a short lived UK hard rock band that released the underestimated Journey To The Far Side Of The Sun in 2011. The band itself consists of Lee Small (Lioneheart/Phenomena/Shy) on vocals, Vince O’Regan (Legion/Bob Catley) on guitars and Ged Rylands (Ten/Tyketto) guitars and keyboards, Andy Pearce on drums, and last and by no means least Steve Mercy on bass. With a storming line-up behind Omega you might expect something rather special and believe me you would be right. The mix of Smalls excellent vocals mixed with O’Regan and Rylands hard edged guitars and the solid rhythm section of Mercy and Pearce, all bind together to make sure this album hits the mark on so many levels. The album is spit into three sections: The Departure, The Dream Sequence and The Awakening, with a total of ten tracks in all. In places vocalist, Lee Smalls voice, delivery and phrasing has an uncanny resemblance to Mr Glenn Hughes. Combined with the nature of the material the comparison is frankly undeniable and Omega have produced a solid collection of hard rock tracks bordering on prog metal
